PARSA’s first Giving Group was started in 2008 by Peter Lenk and Allan MacKenzie. They rallied a group of anonymous donors who worked at NATO in Brussels to make a simple commitment to giving a small amount to PARSA monthly – for the most part this meant only $15 – $25 per person (the cost of one lunch per month!). They called their group Children of Afghanistan and over the next decade their modest contributions combined to over $150,000, allowing PARSA to consistently serve 1,200 children in orphanages across 12 provinces.

The story of the COA Giving Group shows just how much impact individuals can make through dedication and patience over time. PARSA is now looking to establish Giving Groups to fund our Afghan Scouts program.
