Early Childhood Literacy

PARSA programs in Paghman include Literacy and Early Childhood Development. In Paghman, PARSA serves over 700 people directly. The participants of PARSA's programs in turn help many of their family members and friends with their newly learned skills.

Director of Literacy and Early Childhood Development Services Naheed Sharifi has worked for PARSA for six years. She taught in secret schools for women and girls during the Taliban years when the Taliban forbid the education of females. She has just completed the implementation of a literacy program that serves over 650 people in 20 villages and includes an early childhood development component as well as accelerated learning. Funded by Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the donor has acknowledged this program as being one of the best programs that they fund.

In all of our programs PARSA is moving toward providing comprehensive services that address multiple needs for our program participants. Afghans are passionate about education and we believe that education in Afghanistan will provide a path to a future that is stable and economically viable. We continue to expand our various programs to further challenge our students to think about their lives, their futures and to develop meaningful goals.
